After considerable research, Brazilian Complex was released. This formulation is a custom proprietary blend of a combination of specific herbs designed to help curb the appetite and increase metabolism. The ingredients contained in this new formula have been selected for not only for their intended effect, but for their ability to work well together. The following is a list of those herbs explaining why they were specificaly intented for this product.

Acai - One of the top superfoods, hailing from the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil is the acai berry. Brazilian natives discovered the healing properties of the acai berry thousands of years ago. They found it boosted their energy when consumed regularly, and because of its extremely high nutritional value, tribes also used it to treat various ailments with a quick recovery.

Today studies have shown that providing the body with nutrient dense foods helps increase feelings of fullness and lessens hunger cravings driven by a body lacking specific nutrients. Acai has all the vitamins and minerals of most fruits, but also boasts a range of unique plant chemical compounds found in no other fruit on the planet. As a matter of fact, recent studies by Dr. Stephen Talcott conducted at the University of Florida show that there are 50-75 active natural compounds in acai that have yet to be identified.

The combination of antioxidants, amino acids and omega fatty acids found in the acai berry also help slow the aging process by boosting immune and metabolic functions. Also, it might surprise you that the little acai berry packs more grams of protein than an egg.

Green Tea Extract - Green tea contains caffeine, which is known to increase thermogenesis (a biological process involved in burning calories). In a 2007 report from the American Journal of Physiology, scientists state that green tea may fight the decrease in metabolism that typically accompanies weight loss. According to the report's authors, green tea may also inhibit the effects of catechol-O-methyltransferase (an enzyme known to trigger the breakdown of brain chemicals involved in regulating appetite. Additionally, green tea is known to be a powerful antioxidant and is considered to be 20 times more antioxidant-active than Vitamin C. This provides an additional benefit of green tea for dieters. When limiting calories and/or increasing exercise, the body will experience an increase in free radical damage, therefore including ingredients with powerful antioxidant properties provides general health protection associated with the added stresses of dieting.

Garcinia Cambogia - This ‘new’ WOW weight loss ingredient has been around for centuries and was an ingredient in our original At Last diet formula. It is a small, pumpkin-shaped fruit, sometimes called a tamarind. Native to Indonesia, it also grows well in India, Southeast Asia, and West and Central Africa.

Adding this ingredient to meals is considered to be effective in making meals more “filling.” In some villages in Malaysia, Garcinia is used to make a soup that is eaten before meals for weight loss because of Garcinia’s appetite-blocking abilities.

Studies indicate that the key to Garcinia cambosia’s effect lies in its natural extract is called hydroxycitric acid (HCA). Researchers claim that HCA can double or triple one’s weight loss. The HCA extract from Garcinia cambogia aids in weight loss by doing two things: It helps to block fat, and it suppresses your appetite.
HCA has shown to block fat by affecting a key enzyme that your body needs to make fat from carbohydrates: Citrate lyase. Usually carbohydrates or sugars that are not used immediately are converted into and stored as fats. When HCA inhibits citrate lyase, the fat-making process is halted and the production of LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides decrease.

HCA has also shown to suppress the appetite by increasing serotonin levels. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter in the brain that causes emotional highs and good feelings. Having low levels of serotonin can make cause feelings of depression or anxiety, and can lead to emotional or reactive eating. By increasing serotonin levels, HCA improves mood and suppresses the drive to react to stressful situations with food.

Apple Cider Vinegar - For centuries people have been using natural apple cider vinegar as both a food and a medicine. Since 400BC, Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, and others, have used it for its energy and healing benefits.

More recently, the health attributes of apple cider vinegar have been promoted by many well-known authors such as Dr. Jarvis, and Paul C. and Patricia Bragg.

Apple cider vinegar has been studied for years regarding its ability to aid in weight loss. No one knows exactly why it works, however, it is generally believed that the nutrients, enzymes, and organic acids in apple cider vinegar aid in weight reduction by acting as an appetite suppressant, by increasing your body's metabolic rate, and by reducing water retention.

Kelp - A long studied hypothesis regarding weight gain/loss centers around the nutrient content of the food being consumed. It has been suggested that a person eating foods that are low in nutrients, will be hungrier than someone who eats less but more nutrient rich foods. The theory behind this concept is that when the body is nutrient deprived, it will signal hunger until the nutrients it is lacking are supplied. This can, in turn, trigger over-eating even if the person is actually consuming plenty of food; especially if the foods they are eating are low in nutrients (ie: processed foods, high sugar content foods, high fat foods). Fruits, vegetables, and nuts are generally regarded as the most nutrient dense foods available. Kelp is considered to be a powerhouse natural super food; loaded with trace minerals, amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Additionally, kelp is a rich, natural source of iodine which can provide adequate levels to stimulate a sluggish thyroid and encourage a healthy metabolism.

Grapefruit -‘For years people have talked about the grapefruit diet, and some even swear by it, but now, we have data that grapefruit helps weight loss,' said Dr. Fujioka, principal researcher at the Nutrition and Metabolic Research Center at Scripps Clinic. Research indicates a physiological link between grapefruit and insulin, as it relates to weight management. The researchers speculate that the chemical properties of grapefruit reduce insulin levels and encourage weight loss. The importance of this link lies with the hormone's weight management function. While not its primary function, insulin assists with the regulation of fat metabolism. Therefore, the smaller the insulin spike after a meal, the more efficiently the body processes food for use as energy and the less it's stored as fat in the body. Grapefruit may possess unique chemical properties that reduce insulin levels which promotes weight loss.

Brazilian Complex is most effective if one capsule is taken 30 minutes before each meal. If you are senstive to caffeine, do not take this product less than 4 hours before your bedtime.
